With a wedding coming up, when would be better to announce that we're expecting?
Now, everyone who has got a BFP from a pregnancy test knows that it isn't really real until you see your little baby, hear or see it's heart beat, finally have it confirmed by someone who see's pregnant women all of the time.
We did what every set of new parents want to do, and booked a private ultrasound to meet our little munchkin... For 2 days before we got married.
Now I know how it feels to look at a scan picture and think "1. Where the heck is the baby? & 2. Why are you so excited about a white scratchy picture?" Well, I don't just see a tiny baby with a head and arms and legs, I see a future, a soon to be newborn that'll one day call me mummy. I see potential and the scratchy white image, fills me with hope. I completely understand new parents and their excitement!
We heard Baby Lithgow's heartbeat, it was 170 bpm (according to Old Wives Tales, that means it's a boy!), we also saw baby's heartbeat on the monitor, I saw my little munchkin's heart beating. S/he measured in at 8 weeks and 1 day, and was growing perfectly normally.
We have another scan on the 26th of September, when I will be 11 weeks and 2 days, so expect more scratchy white pictures of "baby".
To all parents who have seen their child, you understand the excitement. To all who are yet to meet a child, you'll one day understand the bond and excitement that immediately comes.
I'd love to hear about other parent's stories of their first scan & how it made you feel!
*I'm planning to post updates weekly on me, bump and good ol' hubby, but expect hormonal rants, soppy posts and long posts that'll probably get deleted!*
