Aldi Baby Event

Good Afternoon All!

First of all, I'm not advertising for Aldi in any way what so ever. Their baby event was on the 29th of January 2015 and I couldn't make it due to snow.

That being said, I went down today in hope of some things being left behind and grabbing a bargain.

First of all, I bought some of Aldi's own brand Mamia wipes. I'd heard great reviews about these and thought that since we would go through loads, I may as well buy some. The pack was 12 packs of 64 packs of wipes (wow, a lot of 'packs' in that sentence!). I'd bought the same amount of Johnson's baby wipes from Asda for £8. These were £6!

I then bought 2 packs of Mamia newborn nappies (there's 24 in a pack) which were £1.49 each. I really don't know how many newborn I will need but I'll see! I also bought a pack of size 2 Mamia nappies, 44 for £2.99.

My major saving of the day was definitely the Tommee Tippee newborn bottles that I bought, which were 6 for £8.99! I just had to buy them, even though I plan to breast feed, I am sure they'll come in useful.

Other things I bought were:
2 x Nursing Bras £5.59
2 x Calpol £1.99
Exercise ball £5.99
Hooded Baby Towel £3.49
Nappy Sacks 89p
Sudocrem £2
Baby Socks (5 pack) £2.49
Dummies (twin pack) £2.49
Always Pads (24 pack) £2.34

Now don't get me wrong, the Asda Baby Event was okay but there were some great bargains in the Aldi Baby Event.

I'd definitely say it was worth going down to check it out, but be prepared to go in and buy something just because it's cheap and you'll probably need it at some point ;)

30 Weeks Pregnant

How far along?
30 weeks and 1 day

How big is baby?
Baby Lithgow now weighs around 3lbs and should be around 16 inches long, although we were told he's measuring small at our last midwives appointment so we have another ultrasound coming up to check.
How is my body changing?
As you can see above, my belly is stretching!
My boobs are growing, as expected.
I'm starting to knock things with my stomach now, I haven't realised how much he's grown.
I am struggling to eat set meals now, little and often is the way forward!
I have no option except wearing maternity clothing now, unless I want a stretched t-shirt post pregnancy.
Purchases:
This week, I purchased some bits for our hospital bag (although I am hoping we don't need it). The bits I have purchased will be needed anyway (breast pads, maternity pads etc.) so they won't go to waste.
I also bought a "coming home" outfit for our little man, which will be his first official outfit if he doesn't go in to hospital!
Movement:
Oh gosh yeah! I feel the little guy move ALL the time, especially when I'm still or laid in bed. He tends to not kick anymore but move round and stretch right under my ribs! Although it can be painful, it's an amazing feeling.
Sleep:
Is no an appropriate answer?
Too much pain/cramp/movement basically...
Cravings/Aversions:
I crave sweet things, but I think that is just a normal part of being a girl! I don't really have food aversions as such, but I did make myself Tuna & Pasta and nearly threw up when I opened the can of Tuna.
Labour Signs:
Nothing yet, back pain but I think that's a general sign of late pregnancy anyway.
Highlight of this week:
The biggest highlight of this week was being told that I would be getting another ultrasound scan, because of the midwife not being sure where my placenta was (see lowlight of the week!)
Another lovely highlight of the week was catching a video of baby moving and him REALLY moving. I know that other people can see it as well, rather than me thinking that I imagine it.
(the video is on my instagram if you're interested!)
Lowlight of this week:
The most rubbish part of this week was probably being told that the little guy was measuring small although this did lead to the highlight of the week.
An inevitable part came this week, the third trimester struggles, such as back pain, wind, barely being able to eat more than a handful of food etc. Although I can't complain, it just means that little man is growing!

Updates Upto Now

Hello again!

First of all, let me apologise for being so slack on the Blog writing front! I haven't written one since September. With no internet, it can become a pretty difficult thing to do. Let me try and bring you up to date on what has happened with us so far!

The last time we spoke, I had just had my 12 week scan. Wow, doesn't that seem like forever ago now?

I had a quick visit to the local hospital as I had some unexplained bleeding. Turns out, it wasn't anything serious and had stopped by the time I got there. Seeing as I wasn't in any pain and baby seemed quite content, I was sent home and have had no problems like that since.

Shortly after, we had our 20 week scan. My husband was unable to be there for our 12 week scan, so he hadn't seen Baby Lithgow since the 8 week ultrasound when it looked like a bean with a FHH of 178bpm. It was an emotional ultrasound for the both of us. We found out the bean was no longer a bean, but actually a mini human and was perfectly healthy. We then found out that the growing person was actually a little boy

Everything measured absolutely fine and everything seemed to be in working order! We've been so blessed with this pregnancy, and whenever I feel worried that I haven't felt him moving for a while, he's always there to give me a nice big kick and reassure me that not only is he there, but he's okay!

At my last midwives appointment, she measured my abdomen and said that I was measuring quite small (we're blaming it on the fact that both his mum and dad are small) and she wasn't sure where the placenta was, so we are going for another ultrasound to check his growth and all the other bits, which I'm not too concerned about as he is moving and wriggling around like crazy!

Recently, hubby and I seem to have agreed on a name which we both like which seems a massive achievement from one of us making a suggestion and the other replying "No! I used to know a ***** and he was horrible/mean/smelly".

On a final note, I have been thinking a lot about having a home birth with this little guy, just simply because I don't know if we will ever get the chance to have home birth again. We are still undecided but I am leaning towards a home birth, especially since we live 10 minutes away from a hospital if need be. There are 69 days until he is due to make his debut so we have loads of time to weigh up the pro's and con's.

What do you think about home births?
If you had one, or tried to, how was your experience with a home birth?

I believe with that essay, we are pretty much up to date!
